1981-1992
- In 1981, Kylé won a part in the State Theatre’s production of Joseph and the Amazing Technicolor Dream Coat. It was during this 6 weeks show, that she had the pleasure of working with some of South Africa’s top theatre performers like Richard Loring and Michael Tellinger.
- In 1982, Kylé was offered a full bursary to study in America but declined because of her musical commitments in South Africa.
- Kylé assisted in forming the original Rhema Church Band in 1983 but left in July 1991 to pursue her music career.
- In 1985 she entered “Joy 1985†– A south African Singing Competition. She performed her own composition and walked away with the much coveted first prize.
- In 1986, Kylé flew to the United States to join the Continental Brass and Singers. Touring with this talented group, she took part in 82 concerts across 26 states and enjoyed a number of high profile performances in Germany and Holland at the Billy Graham Evangelical Campaign for 10 000 people. It was during this tour that Kyle had the honour of sharing the stage with some of America’s top gospel artists like Sandi Patti, Carmen, The Imperials, Larry Norman and Sheila Walsh.
- In 1987, after her extensive international tour, Kylé enjoyed a half year sabbatical in Connecticut, USA. Whilst there, she wrote and performed extensively and produced a one-hour Christmas production for the local church in Greenwich, as well as assisting the Praise and Worship team.
- In 1988, she was invited to Italy, where she performed with the top Swedish gospel star, Mertia Svenson. This popular tour resulted in a 20 minute guest appearance on a nationally broadcast television show and an incredibly demanding schedule that included up to 4 shows a day.
- After her successful stint in Italy, Kylé was then invited to do a full European tour while simultaneously recording an Italian album.
- Kylé has performed at various venues including the Christian Artists seminar where she shared the stage with top national and international artists such as Scott Wesley-Brown. She was then asked to perform for a Cancer benefit concert for Alida White with top SA Cabaret artists in the country.
- Kylé’s main goal, throughout her career, had been to record and releases her debut gospel album. She realised her dream in November 1990 when she successfully completed her “FIRE†album, The album was a unique collection of her own original material and was well received by Gospel fans in this country and worldwide.
- Kylé completed a nationwide tour (which included performances in Zimbabwe) to promote her successful “FIRE†album in October 1991. The tour was so successful that she was invited back to perform in venues throughout South Africa and outside our borders the following year.
- After releasing her album, Kyle appeared on many TV programmes such as Streetwise, Impetus and Build for Life. Nine music videos were made of her album and she was charted at number 2 on Transworld Radio, which was broadcast throughout the African continent.
- She was signed with Grace Music and got a publishing agreement with Tusk Music (Chappell). Well known music publisher, Kevin O Hara was then working for the company and still does her publishing today.
- Grace Music entered Kylé’s album “FIRE†for 3 categories in the OKTV awards in 1992. Kyle reached the finals, however the awards were never given due to the political situation in South Africa and the OKTV awards were stopped before the event.
- In June 1992 Kylé’ was asked to take part in the Billy Graham youth festival, which was televised for SABC nationwide.
- It was in this period that Kylé began her Kyle Music School, a private singing school that she founded to train and groom South Africa’s future singing stars. She also uses the school as her base to write and produce songs for current and future recording artists in her studio and to stage professional shows for her students. Kylé Music became a registered company with patented logo later in 2002. The school is considered by most industry insiders as one of the top vocal training and artist development academies in the country and has remained so for over 20 years.
- Kylé entered a number of her students into singing competitions in 1992. They were all placed in either first or second place.
1993
- One of Kylé’s best students, Brandon Auret, won a number of singing competitions with her guidance and grooming. He is now a very successful SA actor, singer and entertainer.
- Kylé also began to showcase her students at very popular annual talent showcases, which attracted the attention of many record companies looking to sign new acts.
1994
- Kylé began to stage live shows in public venues throughout Johannesburg and Pretoria to showcase her students singing and dancing abilities. These successful showcases were arranged and choreographed solely by Kylé and she continued to hold these live events till 2001. Many of South Africa’s top performers began there performance careers at these showcases
- Kylé also began holding very popular concerts at CRESSET HOUSE for the mentally handicapped. All the proceeds went to this incredible charity and much money was raised thanks to the fervent support of the crowds that would regularly flock to these concerts
1995
- Kylé was the mastermind behind a teen band called VTM. They would later disband but front singer, Alan Hayward, has gone on to perform and act on TV.
1996 – 1998
- The Kylé Music school expanded to close to 100 students and Kyle’s focus in this two year period was mainly on artist grooming and vocal training.
1997 – 2000
- Kylé became the Head of the Singing Department of the prestigious National School of the Arts and taught songwriting and singing there for two years. Many top theatre performers and recording artists were taught by Kylé during her stint there. Amongst these are the following artists:
- Latoya: Pop Idols & TV presenter.
- Bianca: One of the top 10 in the first South African Idols Television Competition (the SA equivalent of Britain and America’s POP IDOL competition).
- Leanne: Released album 2003 through Kingdom records. Her record company has relocated to Dubai, where she presently resides.
- Letang: Winner in the top 5 Coca Cola Pop Stars Television Competition. The group was named “101â€.
- Tumi: Winner in Top 5 Coca Cola band called “101â€. This competition was run in 2002. This band is still currently running and highly successful in the black market.
- Saun: She released her debut album that year and has enjoyed regular live performances throughout South Africa.
- In this same period, Kylé was also teaching singing and songwriting at THE PSALMODY ACADAMY OF MUSIC at Rhema Church in Randburg.
- During this period, Kylé continued with her commitments to the 68 students at her own private music school, Kylé Music.
2001-2002
- Kylé began to focus her energies into producing an instructional vocal training CD and manual for release in the South African market. She also continued with her training of artists at Kyle Music and began to strive to create world class performers. Many of her students are now professional singers who work regularly throughout South Africa and the world.
- Kylé began voice coaching lessons with Candice Hillebrand , a well known TV presenter and celebrity who was named the South African FHM Girl of theYear for 2001. Kyle helped Candice vocally prepare for the recording of her debut album. Two singles from this debut reached the top of the SA music charts and Candice was later signed to SONY UK in 2003.
2003 – 2004
- Kylé’s main focus between 2003 and 2004 was as the vocal coach and artist groomer for top upcoming South African artists.
- She was also a main judge at Eisteddford, one of South Africa’s most prestigious national singing competitions.
- During this period, an original song composed by Kyle called “Keep the flame alive†was recorded and released through Universal in Holland. The song was translated into “HOUD DE FAKKEL HOOG†and was released by THE CHOIR COMPANY to raise funds for World Vision. MaartenWassink, headed up the project for World Vision. The song was also recorded in Afrikaans in South Africa in 2004 and published through Universal Songs for European launch. (For more info: 06209509 99 The Choir Company or 033 464 34 44 World Vision. - Another of Kylé’s gospel songs, “Cause Jesus†was included on an international album and released world wide in 1998.
- Kylé also groomed Craig Hinds from one of South Africa’s most well loved pop acts, Watershed for second album.
2005
- Teaching and vocal grooming artists were Kylé’s main focus of 2005.
2006
- Son-Isha released her debut album with much success.
- Jessica Kinnear was awarded an artist deal with Musketeer Records.
- Kylé began co-writing (with top theatre actress and singer, Valeska Muller) material for an Afrikaans artist called Shaun Kleinhauser.
- Once again, Kylé enjoyed training Craig Hinds of Watershed for his third album, which was launched at the end of 2006. Watershed has now garnered international attention as well as being one of this country’s most successful pop acts ever.
- Kylé also continued to teach regularly throughout a busy 2006.
2007
- Kylé completed work on the Shaun Kleinhauser project.
- She also wrote and produced a dance single with student, Taryn Swartz.
- One of Kylé’s most successful students, Mia launched her 3rd album.
- Her most successful Afrikaans student, Rea le Roux, signed a record deal for her second album.
- Kylé wrote songs for Valeska Muller’s CD project. Valeska was awarded a record contract with Musketeer.
- She also started working on two other projects for brand new artists, Jade Rubinek and Taryn-Lee Hudson.
- Kylé appeared in a nationally broadcast interview with top Kwaito musician, Thembe Seete. Seete was part of the hugely successful group, Boom Shaka and released a solo album. Kyle is wrote material for this project and groomed Seete vocally for this much anticipated album.
- Kylé also started training a new artist called Chomme whose last album won Album Production of the Year.
- She was very committed to her songwriting and by the end of 2007 at least 30 of her compositions were commercially released by local and international artists from a variety of genres. A truly remarkable achievement for this multifaceted and passionate singer, songwriter, teacher and producer.
2008 – 2009
- Kylé Music developed and released a professional vocal training cd called “it’s a singer thingâ€.
- Her most successful Afrikaans artist, Rea le Roux started an artist development school under the guidance of Kylé Music, based in the Pretoria East area.
- Cara Saunders also started a training school, teaching under Kyle Music.
- She has been training the Rock School syllabus at Trinity Music (Internationally recognised Diplomas).
